Retirement's a Beach
This workshop is intended to help PERSI members within 10 years of retirement. It is a hands-on workshop where you'll be shown how to combine your PERSI Base Plan and Choice 401(k) Plan benefits with Social Security and other income sources for a rewarding retirement. The PERSI Base Plan will be explored with a specific emphasis on the retirement estimate, early retirement factors, and the annuity options available to participants. Social Security, the benefits available, self-auditing one's record, and understanding earnings thresholds that could impact income are also discussed. Medicare and other health care options are reviewed in great detail as are tax implications of retirement income, the need for insurance, long-term care, wills, trusts vs. healthcare proxies, and powers of attorney. Planning for the Beach
This FREE 1.5 hour workshop focuses on how to begin the planning process required to achieve a comfortable retirement...something studies show escapes nearly 87% of Americans. It covers the basics of your PERSI Base Plan and Choice 401(k) Plan so you get the maximum benefit from each account. Topics devoted to developing good financial discipline to avoid common pitfalls that frequently derail the retirement planning process, including living beyond your means, improper use of credit cards, debt, and poor planning are included. You will be provided with tools to effectively address each of these situations and will be introduced to the principles of the Time-Value of Money, Dollar Cost Averaging, and Asset Allocation.

Cruisin' to the Beach
During this FREE 1.5 hour workshop you will review the basics of the Choice 401 (k) Plan. The workshop will focus on advanced financial planning techniques to help participants fine-tune their skills so they are more likely to achieve a comfortable retirement. How to appropriately use tax and income deferral instruments and practice asset allocation are also reviewed. You will be introduced to some tools needed to make effective choices on your own.
